Section 498A of IPC and the Domestic Violence Act must be scrapped in toto, or made applicable equally to husband/wife and/or man/woman. Tne moment any complaint is registered the policemen and the lawyers are the happiest of all as they start extracting money from the hapless victims of these draconian provisions. I have undergone this trauma and at one point thought of committing suicide along with my mother. I want to be very clear that I am not supporting harassment of women, but only that man and his family have to be protected. I am myself having a daughter, who is my only child, still I appeal for removal of these highly biased laws or suitable amendments.
